Day 1: Bus trip from Cusco to Huancacalle. Early morning pick up at your hotel to initiate a bus ride across the Cordillera Urubamba towards the Valleys of Huyro and Maranura and the starting point of our journey at Huancacalle. Leaving the Sacred Valley at Ollantaytambo, we will drive towards the summit of the Malaga Pass (4,200 m.) where you may appreciate the sacred snow-peak of Wakay Wilka (La Veronica 5,850 meters; 19,300 feet), considered by the local natives to be the "Sacred Tears of Fertility". From there we will go downhill towards the town of Quillabamba, known as the "City of the everlasting summer" and will experience changes in vegetation as we go down to higher temperature and more humid climate. We will have lunch in Quillabamba and resume our journey by bus to our campsite at Huancacalle.
Day 2: Visit of Vitcos and hike from Huancacalle to Qollpaq'asa. After a morning breakfast, we will visit the important and interesting Inca ritual sites at Vitcos and Rosapata. Get to see the famous Ņusta Hisp'ana and enjoy the view of the
Pumasillo Mountain and the Pucyura hill. Pay your tributes to the important "Apus" or spirits and let's start the first leg of our journey to The Lost City of the Incas. Short afternoon walk to the campsite of Qollpaq'asa.
Day 3: Hike from Qollpaq'asa to Ututo. After a consistent breakfast, we will initiate a leisurely hike to our next campsite at Ututo. It is a day to warm up the legs and enjoy the landscapes and tropical vegetation. Have your binoculars and camera as we may see some very colorful neo-tropical birds along the way.
Day 4: Hike from Ututo to Vista Alegre. Waken up at the call of birdsongs, you will be offered a hefty breakfast. This is another beautiful day of hiking going downhill through exotic vegetation and step valleys. Enjoy a midday bath in the Pampaconas River during lunchtime. Afternoon walk to our campsite at Vista Alegre.
Day 5: Hike from Vista Alegre to Concevidayoc. After an early morning breakfast, we will hike a short distance before entering the Valley of Vilcabamba. Feel the warm weather of the valley and discover its amazing fauna and flora. This is your opportunity to see the colorful Cocks-of-the-Rock, the national bird of Peru, make its display at Q'asa Cross. After lunch at Tunkimayu, we resume our hike to reach our campsite at Concevidayoc.
Day 6: Hike from Concevidayoc to Espiritu Pampa - Chontabamba. After breakfast, we hike the 5 hours distance that separate us from the magnificent site of Espiritu Pampa. Roam through the extensive, we will hike a short distance before entering the Valley of Vilcabamba. Feel the warm weather of the valley and discover its amazing fauna and flora. Arriving at the spectacular Espiritu Pampa you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the beauty and the mystery of this fascinating archeological site. It was for a short time the capital of the Manco Inca. Here Manco Inca lost a bloody battle against the Spanish before fleeing into the jungle. Nearby this important historical site you will enjoy dinner at the campsite.
Day 7: Hike from Espiritu Pampa - Chontabamba to Chiwankiri. Awake with the breath of nature whispering through the trees. After a refreshing hike through the Cloud Forest filled with breathtaking nature you will arrive through farming lands in the Chiwankiri village. It is in this pitoresc landscape where we will set up our camp. Treat yourself on a well earned cool beer in the atmosphere of this traditional jungle farming-village.
Day 8: Hike from Chiwankiri to Kiteni and Bus back to Cusco through Lares. After breakfast we'll be rejoining our hike through the tropical and humid farmland-areas to arrive in Kiteni village. After lunch we take the bus on a terrestrial road towards the city of Quillabamba and finally Cusco. |

Single Supplement: If you are traveling alone and would prefer to share a tent, we'll pair you with another trekker of the same gender and there will not be an extra charge. If you prefer to have a rent to yourself a surcharge of $ 30 will have to be paid.
Climate: The highland region of Cusco has well defined winter and summer seasons.Winter days (June - August ) are very sunny and warm, but the temperature drops to near freezing at night . Rainy season is from January to March. December and January are two of the nicest months for trekking with only the occasional shower and blooming flowers. |
